Organization
Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) is organized into three major subgroups: ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG. It plans, builds and operates railroad infrastructure. It ensures punctuality, safety, cleanliness and open access to the railroad system. ÖBB-Personenverkehr AG operates trains and buses for Austrian local and long-distance transport. It also operates Europe's largest night train network. Rail Cargo Austria AG is Europe's leading rail logistics provider. Under the "Rail Cargo Group" brand, it offers logistics solutions from the first to the last mile across the entire Eurasian continent.
At the top of the is ÖBB-Holding AG which is responsible for the strategic direction of the Group. ÖBB has been organized in this form since 2005 on the basis of the Federal Railway Structure Act. The shares of the parent company are held 100% by the Republic of Austria, and the shares are administered by the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK).
